The Nirvana Weighted Blanket was developed based on four studies: Occupational Therapy in Mental Health, Proceedings of the SIGCHI Conference, The Royal College of Psychiatrists, and the Journal of Sleep Medicine and Disorders. Nirvana is the only weighted blanket currently being used in Canadian hospitals.

The weight of the Nirvana blanket triggers the release of calming chemicals and mood elevators like serotonin and oxytocin. This helps relieve such issues as stress, sleep disorders, anxiety, ADD, ADHD, Autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorders, bipolar disorder, aggressive behavior, brain trauma injuries, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and menopause, and night sweats.

 

The Nirvana blanket is available in two models: the Nirvana Original and the Nirvana Bamboo. Both models are designed in Canada, and their materials are ethically sourced and free of harsh chemicals. The Nirvana Original is two-sided and comes in two colors, grey and sand. The Nirvana Bamboo is Nirvana’s cooling weighted blanket. The bamboo material is 100% breathable, ensuring that body heat doesn’t become trapped, causing a person to overheat while sleeping. It is available in grey. Additionally, both blankets feature magic-bands. Magic-bands retain heat when removed and microwaved and stay cold when cooled in a freezer. The Nirvana Original and the Nirvana Bamboo measure 58” x 80“ and are available in weights of 15, 20, or 25 lbs. The Nirvana blanket is best for individual use; however, it can accommodate two people. Additionally, the Nirvana blanket is not recommended for children under five years of age or for people who weigh under 50 pounds.

To completely benefit from the effects of a weighted blanket, Nirvana recommends selecting a weight that is approximately 10% of a person’s body weight. For instance, if a person weighs between 100 and 150 lbs, they should select a blanket that weighs 15 lbs. If a person weighs between 150 and 200 lbs, then they should choose a blanket that weighs 20 lbs. Finally, if a person weighs 200 lbs or more, then they should select a blanket that weighs 25 lbs.

The Nirvana Original Blanket is two-sided. One side is soft, breathable cotton, while the other side is plush, Minky material. The inside of the blanket contains 17 removable magic-bands, filled with naturally treated oats and buckwheat. These 17 bands are compartmentalized into seven pockets to best distribute the weight of the blanket over a user’s body. The Nirvana Bamboo Blanket also contains magic-bands filled with naturally treated oats and buckwheat but is made of cooling Bamboo fabric.

Material/Construction

The outer layer of the Nirvana Original Blanket consists of two fabrics. One side of the blanket consists of plush Minky fabric, and the other side consists of all-natural cotton. Minky fabric is a soft polyester knit fabric. It’s less breathable than natural fabric, which is why having cotton on the other side of the blanket is beneficial. Cotton is extremely breathable, helping to regulate a person’s body temperature so that they remain cool on a hot night. Additionally, cotton is soft and hypoallergenic.

The outer layer of the Nirvana Bamboo Blanket consists of bamboo cooling fabric. Bamboo is a natural fabric that is 100% breathable. Air flows through the fabric, ensuring that no body heat gets trapped and allowing for undisrupted sleep.

The inner layer of both the Nirvana Original and the Nirvana Bamboo contains 17 magic-bands. These magic-bands contain naturally-treated oats and buckwheat. The magic-bands are what give the blanket its weight. Additionally, the magic-bands retain heat when removed and microwaved and stay cool when removed and cooled in a freezer. This makes the blanket ideal for sleepers who want a warmer or cooler sleep.

Each magic-band is separated into seven squares per band and contains equal amounts of oats and buckwheat. In total, the weight of the blanket is distributed through 119 squares of 100% natural grains.

Cleaning/Care

The outer layer of both the Nirvana blankets are machine washable, but the customer must remove the magic-bands before washing.

What is the Delivery Policy?

Delivery usually takes between 4 and 12 business days.

Return Policy

Nirvana desires that their customers love their Nirvana experience. Therefore, if within the first month, a customer feels that the blanket is not suitable for them, or that they would prefer a different product instead, customers can request a return by emailing [email protected]. Customers can generate their own return label by contacting Nirvana Support. However, Nirvanna will deduct the shipping fee from the customer’s refund amount. Nirvana will reject the return if the item is sent back without the blanket’s plastic case. This ensures that the blanket gets from the customer’s home to their distribution center safely.

Refunds will be applied to the payment method used to make the purchase initially. Refunds will only be given after the returned item has been received and processed. Returns must be received within 60 days of the purchase date so that a refund may be processed. It may take between 25 and 30 business days to process a refund. Furthermore, refunds will not be given if the blanket has been damaged or washed in a washing machine.

Nirvana does not accept returns to their office location. Nirvana will only accept returns through shipping, regardless of where the customer lives. Additionally, Nirvana will only accept returns for purchases made on their website. If the blanket was bought at a store or through an unauthorized website, they will not accept the return.

Orders can be canceled within 24 hours of the order being placed should a customer change their mind.

Nirvana offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. The 30 days begins from the day the blanket was shipped. To initiate a return, customers can email [email protected]. The blanket must be returned in its original plastic case and cannot have been washed, torn, ripped, or stained.
